The Nation had a Dream: The Change for The Better
Forty years ago, the Nation was debating on rather or not to an use Eco-friendly alternative energy. The chances of it happening were slim, many companies who sold oil didn’t want such alternative energy’s to be put to use because it would take them out of a business. These oil companies were very ignorant and didn’t want to look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture was bettering our Earth for every one’s, including the Earth’s, future. But they were stubborn and were only thinking about themselves and their greed. That was 2010 and now it’s 2050. Those oil companies that were trying to hold people back from changing things for the better, are gone now. We had to come a long way to make it happen, but it has and now we’re using better energy sources to not only help ourselves, but our Earth as well.
Throughout 2010-2035, America was still denying to make alternative energy their main source for energy. But finally on November 11, 2040, a law was passed and now we only use the alternative energy’s we didn’t use forty years ago. The energy sources we use now is Wind Power, Solar Power, and hydroelectric. We use all three of them because they are all natural and very good for our environment. Plus not everywhere in the world produces a lot of wind, or doesn’t have large bodies of water for hydroelectric energy, or even has a lot of heat radiation. So we’ve combined them three, and made our better our Earth better than we ever imagined. Our natural greenhouse cycle has now balanced out and there aren’t even half as much emissions in the atmosphere like it was in 2010.
Most of the Nation had a dream for the change for the better and finally, it’s happened.
Summary: A 20-year old man named Zachary Connell, was arrested a week ago because he brutally killed 3-year-old toddler, Addison Baldwin. When the little toddler got an autopsy, it showed the child died from serious blunt-forced trauma. But now he’s released on supervision from Scott County jail. But with his release there are some conditions he has to follow like; he has to wear a GPS tracking device, stay at his parents house, cannot leave Scott County, nor contact the toddlers mother, Vanessa Baldwin. Vanessa and Zachary lived together, he was her child caretaker and when he killed her child Addison, she was at work. After his offence on the child, he took the toddler to Genesis Medical Center were the child was pronounced dead.
Response: I would be livid if I was Vanessa. Its a big risk to to leave your child with other people, but when you leave your child with a person you know, live with, and trust, and they do something like that, I would be so ashamed, angry, and disappointed in myself. I feel like he shouldn’t have gotten released. They should have thrown him in jail and threw away the keys. But I am happy they are keeping a tracking device on him. That was the only good out of this article.
Summary: In a smuggling operation, U.S. authorities discovered 30 tons of marijuana being transported in a 600 yard tunnel under the California- Mexico border. Officials say that 26 tons of marijuana was transported through the tunnel to San Diego, 10 tons of it were found by authorities when a tractor trailer was transporting it from the Otay Mesa warehouse, and Mexican military found five tons in Tijuana warehouse and the tunnel.
Response: I don’t really know what to think of this. I personally think its stupid, I don’t see why people are doing all of that for marijuana. But authorities should really give up because now marijuana is legal in California, and know matter what they do people are still going to buy and sell it, so they should stop wasting their time.
Summary: There were two bomb explosions that ended up killing at least 71 people and wounded 91. The first attack was in Darra Adam Khel, a suburb of Khyber-Pakhunkhwa province capital Peshawar, were a a suicide bomber blew himself up after Witnesses said he just, “walked into the Waali Mosque’s main hall and detonated himself.” By this attack alone it killed at least 66 people and injured 80. The second bomber threw hand gernades during evening prayer in a mosque on the outskirts of Peshawar, killing 5 people and injuring 11.
Response: I feel really bad for the people who got killed and injured in these two incidents. Its crazy how many got killed and injured. I think that they need some type of security by these mosque’s because too many innocent peoples lives are at stake. If I was over there I would be extremely nervous, concerned, and mad.
Summary: There was an American Airlines Flight that was going to Miami, when suddenly the cabin lost pressure. Immediately, the crew called for an emergency landing, so they turned back around and went back to Miami airport. When they got back, authorities found a one-foot by two-foot hole. They are now trying to find out how and why it got there.
Response: I hate getting on planes, and this situation isn’t making my fear go away. How did a metal plane get a whole in it!?? It doesn’t make any sense, and that’s so scary. They need to hurry up and find out how it got there because too many people lives were at stake.
Summary: This article is simply about how parents need to be more cautious of their children on Halloween because alot of children have died of car incidents.
Response: If there’s alot of children that die because of car accidents, well that’s on the parent. What type of good parent just let their children go roaming outside by themselves with no parental supervision, crossing streets. I understand that its Halloween, but if the child isn’t old enough to stay home by themselves, then they shouldn’t be allowed to go places by themselves or with people who is not fully watching them.
Proposition 19 and Legalization
Summary: The people who support this proposition are adults who use marijuana for health and non health related issues. But their are some people who are opposed to this proposition which is the Obama Administration office. They feel that if they let marijuana legal that it will be sold to people who are under age. There are some people that will benefit by this in a good way,and they are the people who needs to use marijuana for a serious health reason. But there are also some people who this will not benefit which are the people who have a drug problem, and children because they are so easily influenced. This proposition applies in California, and if California legalize marijuana, there’s a great chance that other states around America will slowly but surely do the same. But if they don’t, I think its half and half because they are people who are desperately wanting it to be legal and then there are some who don’t. And with that there can be another state other than California that will actually consider making it legal.
Response: I honestly could care less about this. Maijuana isn’t any importance to me. However, I do think that it should be legalized for people that really needs it for health reasons. But besides that I don’t really care if it does or doesn’t. It’ss just that if something bad goes a rye then thats on the people who made it legal.
Rethink Afgahanistan
The main idea of this documentary was that if America would stop sending troops into Afghanistan, and just start helping with rebuilding their community and helping with living conditions and health, there wouldn’t be so many attacks, deaths, and money lost. The director, Robert Greenwald, did provide good evidence to this thesis. I personally think that America is in the wrong. We think we’re helping when we’re really not, if anything, sending more troops is making conditions worse than they already are for both Afghanistan and America. At first I was lost and really didn’t know what was going on in the war, nor why, but watching that video changed that and some opinions I had about terrorist and the Taliban. The issue of war profiteering is that the money that’s going into the war is going to the wrong people who really doesn’t need it, or someone taking credit for someone else’s work then getting paid for it.Yes it does exist. I think it should be illegal, but as far as I know there hasn’t been a law or something made to stop people from profiteering from war. I thinks it’s wrong however. This documentary definitely changed my overall view of war. I think we are fighting a worthless war, and it doesn’t make sense why we are, and I kind of think that the Taliban isn’t that bad as America has made them seem. I actually think that America kind of look like the monsters in this situation. Showing this video in class lets people in on what’s going on with the war, why, and giving us an insight on both sides. I think those are the three main reasons why this video shows a great purpose.
Summary: A man named Ronald Little, is now accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl who’s related to him. He has molested at least three girls that are related to him so far.This now adds on to his charges from previous times. The charges are; His additional charges now include 3 counts of 1st Degree Child Molestation, 8 counts of 2nd Degree Child Molestation, 2 counts of 1st Degree Statutory Rape, 31 counts of 2nd Degree Statutory Rape, 7 counts of 1st Degree Statutory Sodomy, 43 counts of 2nd Degree Statutory Sodomy, 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 1 count of Enticement of a Child, 2 counts of Forcible Rape, 2 counts of Forcible Sodomy, 2 counts of Incest, 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography, 3 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Minor, and 1 count of Unlawful Possession of a Concealable Firearm. He is still held in custody.
Response: I can’t even speak! That is crazy, he is crazy! Why isn’t he put in prison already!? I don’t get it, what else does he have to do to go to prison!? This man is charged with over a hundred charges that revolves around molesting, raping, and harming another being. He is such a foul, sick, disgusting person who doesn’t deserve the air that he breaths. By the time they lock him up, it’s going to be too late, and the police is going to have a couple of bodies on their hands.
Summary: While being transported to St. Louis County from St. Charles County, a prisoner named John Banta broke free in the downtown St. Charles area. But when he made it to Warrenton, Missouri, he turned himself in because his parents encouraged him to. There aren’t any word on any additional charges yet.
Response: This is kind of scary because it sounded like it wasn’t that hard for him to get away. If it was so easy for him to get away I can only imagine how easy it could be for others who are a huge danger to society. I think that the St. Charles County police need to be a little more hands on when they are transporting prisoners.
